Undoubtedly, the most colorful period of time in the
Township was the nineteenth century. By then the villages within its boundaries
were established and defined and newspapers reported on activities within the
communities and of the surrounding countryside. When various articles are read
side-by-side you feel as if you are living in a long bygone era. It should be
remembered, however, that most of the information covers the influential
members of the communities in a most romantic way. As a matter of fact, it
often seems that newspapers are trying to curry favor, probably because they
were the subscribers and advertisers.
